Overview: Hoyo de Monterrey Escogidos – La Casa del Habano Edition
The Hoyo De Monterrey Escogidos LCDH is a Double Corona vitola measuring 180mm in length and a 49 ring gauge. The Escogidos were released exclusively by La Casa Del Habano for their distribution in 2018, but did not actually become available until 2019.
This cigar is the third selection by Hoyo De Monterrey to be inducted into the exclusive releases by LCDH.
The Escogidos, which translates to Selected in Spanish, are named this in recognition of the tobacco used for the fill, coming from the exclusive Pinar del Rio region of Cuba.
These cigars are immaculately hand rolled into a dark leathery wrapper that emitted earthy aromas and feature a maroon colored secondary band that displays the LCDH logo.
The Escogidos aromas carry through into flavours with distinct earthy notes mixed with nuts, caramel, cocoa and halfway through a hefty dose of raisin.. The flavour was a medium strength while the body was a mild medium at first and took its time progressing, eventually hitting the medium full mark.
This is an excellent smoke, holding its own in the world of exclusives. Try pairing this with an amber ale for a delicious combination of flavours.
