Overview: Partagas 898 Varnished
The Partagas 898 Varnished is a Lonsdale format which measures 170 mm in length with a 43 ring gauge. The name of this cigar is after its unique in box presentation of 3 rows of cigars in an 8x9x8 layout.
These are not to be confused with the unvarnished version of this cigar, which carries slightly smaller measurements and therefore is not a Lonsdale format.
The wrapper of the 898 is the luxurious Colorado Maduro leaf that is silky smooth to the touch, they are hand rolled and filled with the finest Cuban long filler tobaccos, coupled with its lengthy and slim appearance, these are the picture of a luxury cigar.
The 898 has aromas of toasted tobacco and cedar start us off, and once lit the draw is snug yet easy to pull, with soft flavours of coffee and leather coming through.
The strength begins mild and jumps to a medium strength around the halfway point, the body increases to a full medium and there is a delicious creaminess that develops. We found new flavours of baking spice, chocolate and a touch of cereal coming into the mix.
You can expect to enjoy this smoke for around 2 hours, coupled with its transitions and complexity we recommend this for our more experienced smokers.
